Independent Venue Week 2027
The Indie Night is delighted to announce that we'll once again be taking part in Independent Venue Week 2027.
We're proud to confirm that Mr Shaw's House and The Victoria Inn have both signed up for this year's celebrations, with line-ups currently being carefully curated. We'll be revealing more details later on in the year, so keep an eye on our website and social media channels for announcements.
Independent Venue Week is the UK's annual seven-day celebration of grassroots music venues. It shines a spotlight on the independent venues that nurture emerging artists, support local music scenes and provide unforgettable live music experiences. Since its launch, IVW has helped champion hundreds of venues across the country, giving music fans the chance to discover tomorrow's headline acts in intimate settings.
We're excited to be part of this fantastic nationwide initiative once again and can't wait to share what we've got planned. Watch this space...
Something new is coming to Derby...
I’m incredibly proud to be involved as one of the promoters behind the inaugural INVENTION Festival taking place on Saturday 19th September.
INVENTION is Derby’s brand-new multi-venue music festival, bringing together some of the most exciting alternative, indie, post-punk and experimental artists from across the UK in some of the city’s best independent venues - The Hairy Dog, Dubrek Studios, Electric Daisy, Mr Shaws House, The Wardwick (Derby Museums) and Chapel Street Arts Centre.
The line-up features She Drew The Gun, Good Health Good Wealth, TVAM, Smote, Zeo, Analogue and many more.
I’ve had the pleasure of booking a number of the artists performing across the day as a part of this exciting lineup.
If you’re passionate about discovering new music and supporting independent venues, we’d love to see you there.

Canned Pineapple bring their UK tour to The Vic Inn this November
One of the UK's most exciting emerging guitar bands is heading to Derby this autumn as Canned Pineapple bring their UK tour to The Vic Inn on Friday 6th November.
Hailing from Brighton, the five-piece have quickly become one of the country's hottest new live acts. Following the release of their acclaimed second EP Big Break, the band have picked up support from BBC Radio 6 Music, Radio X, BBC Introducing, Clash, Dork, So Young and Rolling Stone UK, while building a reputation for unforgettable live performances.

Supporting them are The Blooms, one of Derby's brightest new alternative rock bands. Their debut EP Reminisceshowcased a sound rooted in the garage rock revival of the 2000s while drawing inspiration from their Derby upbringing. The release earned multiple plays across BBC Introducing East Midlands and established them as one of the region's bands to watch.
Opening the evening are local favourites Derventio, whose raw, high-energy alternative rock sound makes them the perfect band to kick off what's set to be an unforgettable night.
